Concrete Work |
There is something I find magical about concrete. It can flow to form any shape and then as you unmask it, what is revealed is something solid that is always a unique surprise in color and texture, that instantly has both an ancient and an ageless quality. The possibilities only limited by our own imagination. This stone-like material can be austere, sharp, clean, and polished. Or, as I prefer, warm in color, rich in texture and always changing as it gets used and weathered. While other materials may look worse for wear as they age, concrete takes on a life of its own. You can transform an old slab that you find under a floor. With a little clean-up, a few saw cuts with a diamond blade, and some acid to etch and react with the surface, you can create a gorgeous floor. |
| From fireplaces, sinks, fences, outdoor furniture, floors, kitchen counters, bars, vanities, bathtubs, chair rails, bookends, to foundations and structural frames of houses, I never have enough time to explore all the possibilities.
